The 23 Impur Piggery Community Project has set its sights on positioning Asetkong area as a major piggery hub for Mokokchung district, with stakeholders and officials discussing ways to strengthen the decade-old initiative.

At a meeting held at the residence of 23 Impur AC MLA and Advisor for Law and Justice, Land Revenue, TN Mannen, in Mokokchung on June 11, the legislator called for sustained departmental support to ensure the long-term viability of the community-based piggery project.
Mannen directed concerned officials to provide training and medical support to beneficiaries from time to time, stressing that such assistance was necessary to ensure sustainability of the initiative. He also expressed hope that future leaders and stakeholders from the Asetkong area would continue to strengthen the project rather than allow it to lose momentum.
Technical inputs were shared during the meeting by Dr Simon (Retd), Additional Director, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department (AHD), Nagaland, who spoke on feed management, disease control and other implementation-related requirements.
District Chief Veterinary Officer Dr Tiachuba highlighted animal registration and livestock insurance procedures, while Dr Sarandi from Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) discussed demonstration plots and technical support available for beneficiaries.
The project convenor, Aongsen Aier, presented a briefing on the progress of the initiative and its implementation status.
Launched in May 2016, the Impur Community Piggery Project covers nine villages under the 23 Impur Assembly Constituency. According to project details, 106 beneficiaries have so far received piglets, feeders and necessary equipment under the initiative.
