The Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 campaign was launched in Atoizu today at an event held in the DB Hall, ADC Office, highlighting the importance of public cleanliness and cultural hygiene under the theme “Swabhav Swachhata – Saanskar Swachhata.”

Dr Gihuka Chishi, Medical Officer of Atoizu CHC, chaired the event, which began with an invocation by Rev Vikuto Katty, Pastor of SBAK Aizuto. Dr Samuel Akho Konyak P, Extra Assistant Commissioner of Atoizu, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the importance of cleanliness for overall well-being, including physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and societal health. He noted that cleanliness contributes to both individual and community development.

Dr Konyak also provided historical context on the consequences of poor sanitation, referencing 19th-century England’s battles with cholera and typhoid, and India’s traditional practices like open defecation, which once posed significant health risks.
