Dimapur, 6 March (MTNews): An awareness program for brick kilns, sand mohals, and stone crusher units was organized by District Administration, Dimapur, under National Clean Air Programme. It was held at DC’s Conference hall, Dimapur on 6 March 2024.

ADC & Administrator of East Dimapur Town Council, Mhalo Humtsoe, in her keynote address, mentioned that this awareness program was organized to ensure better air quality in Dimapur through the cooperation of sand mohals, brick kilns, and stone crusher units.

She noted that the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) launched the National Clean Air Program (NCAP) in January 2019 with the aim to improve air quality in 131 cities (non-attainment cities and Million Plus Cities) in 24 States/UTs by engaging all stakeholders.

She called upon the stakeholders to take responsibility for the society and to look for a better way to improve the air in Dimapur. Humtsoe also informed that guidelines will be issued in a few days, which are to be followed strictly.

The program was chaired by EAC Dimapur, Imlijungla Lemtur. Rongsenben Longkumer, Junior Scientific Assistant, Nagaland Pollution Control Board (NPCB) highlighted on Mission LiFe by while presentation on Air Pollution and Regulations Related to Pollution Industries was shared by Yanathung Kithan, Scientist ‘B’ (NPCB).
