Axis Bank, one of the largest private-sector banks in India, has been conferred with the Rotary CSR Award 2025 for Community Involvement in the Mega Enterprise category. The award, presented by Rotary International District 3131, recognized Axis Bank’s flagship education program, Axis Dil Se – Capt. Late N. Kenguruse Maha Vir Chakra (MVC) Centre of Excellence in Chieswema, Nagaland, in partnership with Assam Rifles and the National Integrity and Educational Development Organization (NIEDO).
The program supports Centres of Excellence (CoE) by offering academic coaching, mentoring, and holistic support for bright and deserving students from the Northeast region. It has helped over 650 students prepare for competitive exams such as NEET and JEE, with over 205 students enrolled in the current academic year. The Chieswema Centre is part of a wider network of seven CoEs in the Northeast, including Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Mizoram, Tripura, and Ghaspani in Nagaland.
The Centre is a collaboration between Axis Bank, NIEDO, and the Sector Assam Rifles/IGAR (N)/DGAR under the aegis of the Eastern Command of the Indian Army. Assam Rifles plays a crucial role as a facilitation partner, providing infrastructure, classrooms, and residential facilities for students, teachers, and support staff, ensuring a conducive, safe, and secure environment for the students. The implementation partner, NIEDO, manages student mobilization, shortlisting, onboarding, coaching, and training. This joint effort ensures that students receive the necessary resources and support to excel academically.
Speaking on the occasion, Vijay Mulbagal, Group Executive & Head – Wholesale Bank Coverage & Sustainability at Axis Bank, said, “We are deeply honoured to receive this prestigious award from the Rotary Club. This recognition encourages us to reaffirm our commitment to continue serving underprivileged communities with even more passion and dedication. The Axis Dil Se – Capt. N. Kenguruse MVC Centre of Excellence is not just an education program; it is a symbol of resilience, aspiration, and opportunity, and we are glad that this initiative enables a generation of young students from the North-East to dream bigger and achieve more.”
Since its inception in Ladakh in 2018, Axis Dil Se®þ has been one of the bank’s flagship CSR programs under the Education theme, focused on bridging the education gap in India’s remotest, underserved, and conflict-affected areas. Under the Axis Dil Se®þ umbrella, Axis Bank supports key interventions across all seven states of the Northeast, as well as in Odisha, Jharkhand, and Chhattisgarh in the East.
