The Ayush Hospital in Sabangya, Chungtia Village, Mokokchung, is expected to be completed by March 2025. Construction of the hospital began in December 2019 under the National Ayush Mission Scheme but faced delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Nagaland Health and Family Welfare Minister Paiwang Konyak along with the Principal Director, Commissioner of the department of Health and Family Welfare and others, inspected the hospital on November 20 during the district tour and identified several concerns. They noted that the rooms in the building were “too dark” and highlighted the poor quality of sand being used in the ongoing construction.
The Minister also raised concerns about the hospital’s distance from the District Hospital and stressed the need for a proper approach road. He emphasized the urgency of addressing this issue, citing challenges for patients traveling to the facility.
Regarding the lack of water supply, Konyak advised hospital authorities to seek assistance from the Jal Jeevan Mission by formally writing to the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED). He also expressed concern over the absence of power connectivity and recommended immediate action to ensure electricity is made available.
The department underscored that essential infrastructure—water supply, electricity, and road access—must be completed alongside the hospital building to ensure the facility is fully operational by March 2025.
