Following the ultimatum served to the Department of Health & Family Welfare over the ongoing construction of the 50-bedded Integrated AYUSH Hospital at Sabangya, Mokokchung Times reached out to stakeholders for updates.
The contractor of KC Infra Projects Pvt Ltd acknowledged the issues raised. Admitting that he learned about them through the department, the contractor said, “We are ready to do anything as per the instruction given by the Department. Earlier, the Department has also given us some things to rectify regarding the plaster and thus, we have begun our rectification.”
On the repair works, he explained, “Regarding the areas below the window, our tiles team will come and we will pull out whatever is necessary and there will be another layer of plaster, followed by the tiles.”
When asked about the concerns raised by CSOs, who are not satisfied with the ongoing repair works and have given a ten-day ultimatum for joint inspection, the contractor responded, “We will do whatever is required and is asked by the Department of Health and Family Welfare.”
He further admitted, “Yes, we admit that there have been lapses and we are not happy about it. We have only one agenda and that is to ensure that we complete the project within our targeted time, that is January 2026, but to the satisfaction of the Department. We will do everything which the Department will instruct us to do.”
He added that they would refrain from making further comments and instead focus on completing the work and handing it over to the Department.
Zaongtoshi, Convenor of the Chungtia Students’ Union (CSU), told MT that the Union along with the Chungtia Village Council has already held a meeting with the district administration and civil societies including the Ao Senden. However, he confirmed, “We have not received any response from the Department.”
When contacted, Dr Marina Yaden, Chief Medical Officer of IMDH Mokokchung, said that a copy of the ultimatum has been forwarded to the Principal Director of Health and Family Welfare and the Commissioner of Health and Family Welfare. She clarified, “The IMDH Mokokchung has nothing to do with it as the selection, work order and the engineering wing were all sent from the Directorate in Kohima.”
Attempts to make contact to the Department of Health and Family Welfare were not successful at the time of filing this report.
