MLA Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu on Wednesday inaugurated the boundary stone marking the boundary between Khuza and Mutsale villages in Phek district.

The stone pillar stands as a testament to the mutual commitment of the two villages to live in harmony and fraternity, marking the end of decades of animosity and hostility.

An inscription on the boundary stone states that the land dispute, spanning more than nine decades and dating back to the British era, had witnessed confrontations and bloodshed and was long considered impossible to resolve. The dispute was amicably settled on April 29, 2021, through what the inscription describes as the grace of God, the goodwill initiatives of Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu, MLA 19th Phek Assembly Constituency, and Zhopra Vero, Kedahge NNC/FGN, the relentless efforts of the Phek Area Public Organisation, the patronage of then Deputy Commissioner Razouvolie Dozo, and the compliance and desire of the two villages, whose leaders are remembered on the pillar, to live in peaceful coexistence.

Addressing the gathering, Azo described the peace treaty between the two villages as one of the biggest achievements of his lifetime. He said peaceful coexistence among communities and villages should be the primary focus of leaders and the government.

“As Christians, the Bible teaches us to live at peace with one another as brothers, as stated in Psalm 133:1,” he said, adding that such values are necessary to bring blessings to the community.

He also thanked Zhopra Vero, former Phek Deputy Commissioner Razouvolie Dozo, present Deputy Commissioner Rhosietho Nguori, and present EAC Khuza Mechetso Koza for their presence and patronage.

Only after a gap of 96 years was the boundary stone erected on February 26, 2026, with the Deputy Commissioner of Phek and the EAC of Khuza as witnesses, he said, describing the occasion as a historic moment for the people of the Phek area and “a biggest milestone achievement.”

Deputy Commissioner Rhosietho Nguori, Rakhusu Vewsu, and Zhopra Vero also addressed the programme.

The programme was chaired by PAPO President Wepelo Mebou, while Rev. Dr. Vezopa Tetseo, Pastor of Phek Town Baptist Church, invoked God’s blessings. A brief account of the resolution of the land dispute was presented by PAPO Vice President Vesheta Khesoh. The vote of thanks was proposed by Vechizo Khamo, General Secretary, PAPO, and the benediction was pronounced by Rev. Puduhu Khusoh, Pastor of the 5th NAP Baptist Church, Phek.
