Mokokchung, March 5 (MTNews): Naga People’s Front (NPF) leader Kuzholuzo Azo Nienu has tendered his resignation from the position of Co-Chairman of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA). In a letter addressed to the chief minister, Azo Neinu on Sunday stated that he is resigning from the position as his tenure has ended. He also requested the chief minister to withdraw the Z-category security status which was provided to him for election purpose.
It may be recalled that on 22 July 2021, the NPF announced its intention to join the state government, which was ratified by the People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) on 11 August, resulting in the formation of an all-party government. The NPF cited a shared need to resolve the “Naga political issue” and the ongoing negotiations between the Government of India and Naga political groups. The new government was initially called the Nagaland Unity Government, but Rio later announced that its name would be the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
