Advisor, Urban Development & Municipal Affairs, Zhaleo Rio inaugurated the Bamboo Rural Haat at Piphema ‘A’ under Medziphema subdivision in Chumoukedima district on 12 July 2024.
In his address, Zhaleo Rio congratulated the team from Bamboo Mission and Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency for successfully setting up the Bamboo Rural Haat for the welfare of the people. He also appreciated the cooperation received from the village council.
The Advisor highlighted the importance of Piphema, noting that National Highway-29 passes through it, making it an attraction for tourists visiting Nagaland. He requested the villagers to maintain cleanliness and take care of the infrastructure. He also encouraged the farmers to continue growing and selling local/organic vegetables, as it will not only help increase income but also provide employment opportunities for the people.
Additional Secretary & State Mission Director of Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency, S Tainu, also gave a brief note on the Bamboo Rural Haat. Chairing the inaugural program, Dr Tolto Metha, a team member of the Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency, extended his appreciation to the Village Council for providing strategic land for constructing the Bamboo Rural Haat and for their cooperation. He also highlighted the purpose of treating bamboo and the activities of the Rural Haat.
The Bamboo Rural Haat was funded by the Nagaland Bamboo Mission and constructed by the Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency.
Additionally, at Tsiepama village, the advisor also inaugurated the farmers’ marketing shed.
