BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has announced that academies in the Northeast and Jammu & Kashmir will soon be operational.
In regions that have long been overlooked in cricketing development, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) initiated a program to establish academies, and according to Shah, these initiatives are nearing completion.
“The academies in the Northeast States will be ready soon, probably by August,” Shah said during the Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction in Mumbai. “Midway through August, we’ll see academies opening up in the Northeast and the new NCA in Bengaluru. And the work on Jammu & Kashmir academy has started,” added the BCCI secretary.
Shah said the Northeastern states of Nagaland, Mizoram, and Arunachal Pradesh will each house academies in their respective capital cities. While operational challenges persist for establishing an academy in Manipur due to internal issues, Meghalaya could see one in the near future. Shah also confirmed that a similar facility in J&K is on the horizon.
According to Shah, the NCA in Bengaluru will feature a high-quality center, comparable to Cricket Australia’s High-Performance Centre in Brisbane. Shah remarked, “It will be as good as Cricket Australia’s High Performance Centre in Brisbane.”
