A basic blacksmith training programme under the Department of Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship commenced at Chetheba Town in Phek district on Tuesday.
The training is being conducted by Zynorique Initiatives Society under the programme “Providing Access to Core Employability Skills (PACES)”.
A total of 25 candidates have been selected for the seven-day programme, which includes 50 hours of intensive training.
Kulo Kezo urged trainees to attend sincerely and utilise the opportunity, noting it is the first such initiative in the town. He emphasised self-reliance and dignity of labour.
Head GB Motahu Rokha expressed gratitude and hoped participants would gain useful skills.
Tenempong Longchar said the programme aims to improve job readiness among rural youth and women. Toolkits will be provided upon successful completion.
