The Border Peace Coordination Committee (Assam Nagaland) will hold its annual general meeting along with a conference of coordination representatives from both states on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 11 a.m. The programme will be held at Bhagyalakhi Gandhi ME School, located along the Assam Nagaland border in the Changpang Titabar circle.
According to the organisers, the meeting is being convened to discuss ways to address and resolve periodic incidents of violence between the Naga and Assamese communities. The focus of the deliberations will be on promoting dialogue, mutual understanding and cooperation to ensure lasting peace in the border areas.
The committee stated that the annual meeting also serves as a platform for coordination representatives from Assam and Nagaland to review prevailing ground situations and strengthen mechanisms aimed at preventing conflict and misunderstanding between communities living along the inter-state boundary.
The Border Peace Coordination Committee has extended an invitation to residents of the border areas to attend the programme and actively participate in the discussions. It said community involvement is essential for fostering trust and maintaining peace and harmony in the region.
The organisers expressed hope that the meeting would reinforce existing peace-building efforts and contribute to improved relations between border communities from both states.
