Mokokchung, 14 March (MTNews): In reaction to the burning of effigies of Prime Minister Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and National BJP President JP Nadda by the Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) on 13 March in Tuensang protesting the delayed response to their Frontier Naga Territory demand, the BJP Nagaland stated today that it was ‘most regrettable’.

“Such actions are unfortunate, unnecessary and serve no productive purpose, particularly at a time when sincere efforts are being made by the Central leaders to address the concerns of Eastern Nagaland,” the party said through a statement issued by BJP Nagaland state president Benjamin Yeptho.

Highlighting the commitment of the Government of India, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, towards the development and welfare of Eastern Nagaland, the BJP cited various initiatives and schemes aimed at upliftment.

These include PM Matru Vandana Yojana, PM Awas Yojana, PM Ujjwala Yojana, PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, Free Covid-19 vaccination, PM Ayushman Bharat Health Card, PM Kisan Yojana, PM Mudra Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission, Khelo India, PM Vishwakarma, and the establishment of the Medical College at Mon.

Further emphasizing the commitment, the BJP highlighted significant financial allocations, amounting to Rs 180 crore under PM-DevINE solely for Eastern Nagaland. This, the party said, reflects the earnest efforts of the Government of India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP National President JP Nadda to uplift the region and its people.

While acknowledging the grievances and demands put forth by ENPO regarding the Frontier Nagaland Territory, the BJP urged all stakeholders to prioritize constructive means of resolution within the framework of democratic dialogue.

The BJP Nagaland State Unit urged the ENPO for “magnanimity in patience and understanding” as both parties navigate through complexities that may arise while trying to achieve a positive end-result.

“While protests are a fundamental right in a democratic society, they should not detract from constructive dialogues that are necessary for resolution,” stated the BJP reiterating the importance of meaningful discussions, respecting procedural and technical considerations, to achieve a mutually beneficial outcome.

Expressing optimism in the “unwavering” dedication of the Government of India to address the concerns of Eastern Nagaland, the BJP Nagaland State Unit called for unity, mutual respect, understanding, and cooperation to foster an environment conducive to resolving issues in Eastern Nagaland.
