Business Association of Nagas against “syndicate menace”

Mokokchung, February 14 (MTNews): The Business Association of Nagas (BAN), in a press release issued today, said that the whole business community in Nagaland was struggling against what it called the “syndicate menace prevailing in our State that needs to be eradicated from its root irrespective of any affiliation.” BAN also said that “terrorizing of price gouging, illegal taxation, quality compromises, inflation, restricting choice of consumers” has led to sky rocketing of all prices which adversely affect the consumers and economy of the State. Meanwhile, the Business Association of Nagas (BAN) also applauded Dimapur Police for the arrest of one Mr. Joshi, who it alleged was the kingpin for running the transport syndicate in Dimapur. “BAN believes in co-existence of all individuals and welcomes every citizen in building the economy of the state through ethical economic activities, but it will never tolerate any individual, company or organization that uses coercive means to kill competition,” BAN stated in the press release issued by its President, L Mongkum Jamir, and General Secretary, Dr Yan Murry. BAN also appealed the Police and District administration of Dimapur to have the matter investigated thoroughly and charge sheet all accused under non-bailable offences. BAN also lauded the courage of our two Naga women entrepreneurs for filing FIR.
BAN further said that there were lakhs of unemployed Naga youths desperately looking for jobs or contemplating to start their own businesses. “And when this kind of handful of divisive poisonous people either from within or outside the State, together with their cohorts downplay the strength of the Naga youths and Naga business community, there will be chaos, uprising and call for reformation that will sweep across the state,” BAN cautioned.
BAN also said that Nagas were “slowly opening their eyes to economy and we will never allow some vested interest people to use coercion and impose monopoly to finish the budding Naga businesses while systematically crippling the Naga entrepreneurs.” It also said that any organization or individual involved in forcible collections and coercion should be booked and their license cancelled. BAN further admonished that, “Those involved in harboring and patronizing this kind of elements in our society are nothing short of collaborators to destroy the future Naga generation, who will find their names engraved in the Naga business history as conspirators to destroy our state economy.” BAN also declared that it will work and sacrifice without fear, or favor for the cause of Naga entrepreneur, “so that our younger generation will work, earn and live with dignity.”
