Dimapur, November 19 (MTNews): The PHED Dimapur Division, in collaboration with Can Youth, held a Swachhta Run in commemoration of World Toilet Day with the theme “Making the Invisible Visible” in Dhansiriphar on November 19.

Sentiwati, Can Youth’s program manager, gave an overview of the event. Imojungla Longkumar, district coordinator, DWSM PHED, Dimapur, began with greetings and spoke about the purpose of World Toilet Day, which began in 2013 and is observed annually. She spoke on the topic of ‘Making the Invisible Visible,’ emphasizing the importance of good sanitation.

 

Engineer Hotolu Sema JE of PHE-Dhansiripar in Dimapur demonstrated the Twin Pit Technology. He also emphasised the importance of maintaining a clean toilet for good health. He concluded his speech by reminding the children of the importance of washing their hands with soap after using the toilet.

 

Phiju Langthasa, President of the G.B. Doyapur cum Dimasa G.B.Union, emphasised the importance of raising awareness in villages by involving the elderly, while mentioning that village health and hygiene have been well maintained to date.

 

Asst Commandant Sinulal D, Dimapur Bn Assam Rifles, thanked the department for organising a fruitful event and encouraged the demonstration and awareness that was shared to be implemented in the long run. This was followed by the special guest leading the Swachhta Pledge.

 

The Swachhta Run started from Government High School in Dhansiripar Village and ended at Dayapur Village Ground.
