The Centre Chakhesang Public Organization (CCPO) has brought into the public domain an appeal letter citing complaints over stone quarrying and other activities affecting the Pfutsero–Phek two-lane road stretch.
“On receiving several complaints from the general public the Centre Chakhesang Public Organization (CCPO) are compelled to bring this appeal letter in public domain,” the organization stated.
The CCPO recalled that “the then DC Phek issued an order NO.DCP/DEV/SARDP-NE/PT-III) 1006 Dated Phek, the 25th May, 2023 and notice Dated Phek, The 12th September, 2024 NO.DCP/DEV/SARDP-NE(PT-III)/1114.”
It further informed that “in connection to the directives of the administration the Centre Chakhesang Public Organization (CCPO) adopted a resolution resolved on 6th Dec. 2023 held at Sakraba Town Hall as Resolution No.2 for maintenance of Two Lane road for which CCPO have had entrusted all the village councils under its jurisdiction to mitigate problems and issues pertaining to maintenance and repair of Two lane road through whose villages the road passes.”
However, the organization alleged that “some individuals/groups engaged in stone quarrying and other developmental activities happening within the stretch from Pfutsero-Phek via Sakraba-Porba-Pholami-Khomi had failed to cooperate with the village councils in many occasions which is creating nuisance to the general public.”
Detailing the alleged violations, the CCPO stated that “those individuals/groups engaged in extracting boulders and hoardings within the existing road surface, construction of approach road, randomly dumping excavated soil in undesignated area, construction of structures within the perimeter of Two lane road surface and other activities like damaged of Breast wall and piled debris on the shoulder and within the Row which are found to be detrimental or affecting the flow of traffic at any location are asked to remove/vacate/repair on or before 28th February 2026.”
It warned that “failure to cooperate with this appeal the CCPO shall not be held responsible in the event of any eventualities.”
The organization concluded by stating that “public cooperation is highly solicited in this regard.”
The appeal was issued under the signatures of CCPO President Pupohu Lohe and General Secretary Kulupoyi V Vadeo for the 2026–2028 tenure.
