Ceasefire between Centre and NSCN-K (Khango) extended

Mokokchung, 7 March (MTNews): The government of India and the National Socialist Council of Nagaland-K (Khango) on Thursday extended their ceasefire Agreement with effect from 18 April 2024 for a period of one year, that is, till 17 April 2025 “to bring about a lasting peace in the State of Nagaland with the involvement of Naga people.”

As per the agreement, the Ceasefire will be subject to adherence to the Ceasefire Ground Rules mutually agreed and signed by the two sides. The Ceasefire Ground Rules will be subject to mutual review and amendment with the involvement of both the parties.

The Ceasefire Agreement signed today was appended by Piyush Goyal, Additional Secretary to Government of India, A Imyapangba Ao, Supervisor, CFSB, NSCN-K (Khango) and Mhoyamo Kithan, Secretary, CFSB, NSCN-K (Khango). The agreement was signed in New Delhi.

“Both the parties accordingly append their signatures, on this date, the 7th March 2024 herein under, to give effect to the Ceasefire Agreement,” the document read.

Meanwhile, it was also reported that the government of India extended another ceasefire agreement with the NSCN (Reformation) for a period of one year on the same day. However, it could not be independently confirmed during the time of filing this report. It may be noted that the ongoing ceasefire between the Center and the NSCN (R), is set to expire on 27 April 2024.
