Mokokchung, February 9 (MTNews): The Chakhesang Clean Election Movement (CCEM) organized a Joint Prayer Fellowship on 9th February 2023 for the candidates of the Chakhesang community with the intention of seeking God’s blessings, and for God to raise His choice of leadership. The program was held at The Pioneers’ Complex, Chakhesang Baptist Church Council (CBCC), T Chikri, Pfütsero.

 

 

Rev Vezopa Rhakho, Chairman, Chakhesang Clean Election Movement, who presided over the program, apprised the gathering of the CCEM activities. Rev David Koza, Executive Secretary, Chakhesang Christian Revival Church Council (CCRCC), read a passage from the Bible and prayed for the program.

 

The Welcome Address was delivered by Rev Dr Vevo Phesao, President, CBCC.

 

Vezühü Keyho, President, CPO spoke on behalf of the Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO), and urged the candidates to play a “friendly match without criticizing each other, and also for the candidates to respect the decisions of the apex body and extend their full cooperation for the good cause of our community,” and to uphold the clean election principles. He further quoted John F. Kennedy’s words, “Ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country.”

 

Rev Dr Chekroveyi Cho-o, Executive Secretary, CBCC while sharing from the Word of God, stated, “If we lose our identity and integrity as Christians, our professions without Christ will only lead us to sin more! Therefore, we must abide by the teachings of Jesus Christ and take our professions as our callings. Then only we can make a difference.”

 

There are seventeen Chakhesang candidates from Phek and Dimapur districts contesting in the upcoming General Elections, of which fifteen from various political parties attended the program along with their party functionaries.
