An awareness program on the 33% Women Reservation under the ULB election was conducted by the Chakhesang Mothers’ Association (CMA) at Clock Tower, Phek, on June 4th, 2024.
President of the Chakhesang Mothers’ Association, Zhonelu Tunyi, highlighted in her speech the significance of the 33% Women Reservation in Nagaland, emphasizing its role in providing ample opportunities for women in various fields, including decision-making policies.
Tunyi urged intending women candidates not to contest the election solely for personal gain but to prioritize the welfare of all women and work for the betterment of the general public. She emphasized the importance of avoiding the use of financial influence to secure votes and encouraged honest and sincere campaigning. Tunyi also stressed the CMA’s dedication to ensuring a peaceful, free, and fair Urban Local Bodies election in the district, urging all candidates to engage in a healthy and peaceful contest conducive to the town’s development.
During the program, eight intending candidates from the 33% Women Reservation for 4 Wards of Phek Town delivered self-introductions and speeches. Additionally, Secretary of the Chakhesang Mothers’ Association, Kezevinuo Krome, read out the CMA Resolution.
Speeches were also delivered by the President of the Phek Town Public Forum, the Convenor of the Ward Chairman Forum, the Head of GB Union Phek Town, and the President of the Phek Area Mothers’ Association.
