Mokokchung, October 13 (MTNews): The Chümoukedima Town Angamimia Mechü Krotho (CTAMK) along with Chümoukedima Town Womens Organisation (CTWO), Chümoukedima Town Youth Organisation (CTYO) and Chümoukedima Town Students’ Union (CTSU) has given seven more days to the Municipal Affairs department, Govt. of Nagaland to terminate the newly appointed candidates from the date and warned that if no positive response is received, the CSOs will begin agitation in stages. This was stated in a press release received here from the CTAMK.
According to the organizations, upon learning about the illegal appointment of five candidates at Chümoukedima Town Council via appointment letter number dated Kohima 25 August 2022, the organization approached the Municipal Affairs department, Govt of Nagaland on September 6, 2022 where they submitted a representation to the dept. head for cancellation of the appointments. According to the CSOs, there were no vacant posts and the appointees were appointed without following the requisite process of recruitment examination.
The CSOs upon understanding that it is a ‘gross violation of the fundamental rights of the citizens’, and since ‘bodies cannot accept this unfair means of recruitment under any circumstances,’ the CSOs gave thirty days’ time period to the department to revoke the illegal appointments and to declare any vacancies available through open advertisement.
The CSOs also pointed out that for the appointment of grade-IV posts in the district, the respective indigenous inhabitants of the Chümoukedima district can fill the post only as per the P&AR notification.
However, according to the organizations, the 30 days has gone ‘unheeded’ but the CSOs ‘in good faith’ have decided to give seven more days for the department to terminate the ‘said newly appointed candidates from the date of this notification’.
