Nijarul Islam (34) of Morigaon, Assam, who was allegedly involved in the tragic multi-vehicle accident on NH-29 between 5th Mile and 6th Mile, surrendered at Khatkhati Police Station. The accident, which occurred around 1 AM on March 25, claimed the life of N William Koso, a renowned football coach and technical committee convenor of the Nagaland Super League.
Islam, after surrendering at Khatkhati, was handed over to Dimapur Police. In his statement, he claimed that while traveling from Dimapur to Kohima, a two-wheeler suddenly appeared in front of his vehicle. He attempted to avoid a collision and stop his car but fled the scene in fear, unaware of what transpired behind him.
Police are now investigating his account to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident. Further inquiries are underway to establish the sequence of events leading to the fatal crash.
