Mokokchung, 5 November (MTNews): The Clean Election Movement (NBCC) has appealed to the government of Nagaland to reconsider the date of counting votes for the upcoming Bye-Elections at 43 Tapi Assembly Constituency. The movement has urged the government to heed the request made by the KBBB (Konyak Baptist Bumeinok Bangjum), which has expressed concerns about the proposed date of vote counting, scheduled for Sunday, December 3, 2023.

“Conducting this exercise without considering the resentment of the community would further invite unnecessary disruptions for the smooth functioning of the Bye-Elections,” it said. The movement has also called on all elected MLAs to “deliver what they have promised in the last 2023 Election.”

In addition, the NBCC has appealed to all voters, candidates, and political parties to maintain peace and refrain from any unlawful activities. “We wish and pray that the most deserving candidate will be elected to represent the constituency,” it added.

The appeal was appended by Dr Villo Naleo, Convenor of the Clean Election Movement (NBCC), and Rev Suhuto Chishi, Co-Convenor of the Clean Election Movement (NBCC).
