On November 4, 2023, Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, visited Kohima and Tuensang in Nagaland, emphasizing the central government’s commitment to the “development of the North Eastern states” with a particular focus on Nagaland. He asserted that the North East holds a special place in Prime Minister Modi’s heart.
In response, the Indian National Congress, Nagaland expressed its disagreement by tweeting a post titled “Hardeep Singh Puri’s Claims Vs Reality” on X. Nagaland Congress countered the Minister’s assertion that the North East holds a special place in PM Modi’s heart, highlighting the “reality” that “Manipur has been engulfed in turmoil for the last 6 months, and Modiji hasn’t uttered a single word.”
Honorable Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri's Claims Vs Reality:
Claim No 1 : North East occupies a very special place in PM Modi's heart.
Reality : Manipur has been burning for the last 6 months and Modiji hasn't uttered a single word. https://t.co/dranc8U6eq

In response to the claim that PM Modi prioritizes Nagaland, the Congress cited the Naga political problem and its elusive solution. “Reality : The Naga Political Solution says hello,” it tweeted.
On Puri’s claim that “there’ll be women-led development from now on because Modiji passed the Women Reservation Bill,” Nagaland Congress asserted that, in reality, the Women Reservation Bill will not be implemented now due to conditions imposed by the Modi government. “The Women Reservation Bill will not be implemented now, and conditions put forth by the Modi government will ensure that it’s not implemented in the next 10 years,” it stated.
