Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today inaugurated the NLCPR project to provide water supply to 24 villages under the Chiephobozou RD Block in Kohima district. Launching the project alongside PHED Minister Jacob Zhimomi, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of community-led maintenance and management of the infrastructure. He noted that while the department has initiated the project, its long-term sustainability will depend on the active commitment of the local villages.
Highlighting the critical need for water conservation, Rio urged communities to protect water sources and adopt practices such as rainwater harvesting and the rejuvenation of traditional wells.
On the same occasion, the leaders also inaugurated the NESIDS project for the development of tourism-related infrastructure at Tuophema Tourist Village.
