Kohima, 8 April (MTNews): Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio reiterated today that the aim of establishing an opposition-less government in Nagaland and forming the People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) was to promote peace and to address the Naga Political issue. He emphasized that the focus is on fostering prosperity for the people and attracting investors to the state to create opportunities and avenues for growth.
Speaking at the Kohima PDA coordination meeting for the 2024 Lok Sabha Election 2024 at the NDPP office in Kohima, Rio expressed optimism for a peaceful election and urged the public to support the consensus candidate.
He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to resolving the unresolved Naga issue while maintaining adherence to Christian principles. Rio also reaffirmed the PDA’s allegiance to the NDA at the center and announced his campaign plans for the NPF Candidate for the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency on 20 April in Manipur.
Rio also dismissed any strong rival against the PDA consensus candidate.
Addressing the gathering, the PDA consensus candidate, Dr Chumben Murry, emphasized in his speech that the 18th Lok Sabha will play a crucial role in addressing the Naga Political issue. He noted that while politicians cannot directly participate in the talks, they can represent the views and aspirations of the people by raising the issue in Parliament. He underscored the preeminence of solving the Naga political issue as a prerequisite for development.
Dr Murry also commended Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for his efforts in promoting peace, development, and empowerment in the state, highlighting various government initiatives aimed at achieving these goals. He also lauded the Prime Minister and said that the NDA government will come back to power.
