Mokokchung, 8 April (MTNews): A day after the Konyak Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) summoned the NDPP president N Chingwang Konyak to appear at the Konyak Union office at Mon Headquarters “within 48 hours” for allegedly violating explicit directives of the Konyak Union, the latter tendered his “sincerest apologies” to the union today.

In an “Apology Undertaking”, the NDPP chief accepted responsibility for his actions that were deemed to have contravened the resolution made by the Konyak Union (KU) on 30 March 2024 which directed “all its citizens not to engage in commentary remarks on the ENPO FNT matter.”

Chingwang Konyak apologized for his indiscretion in commenting on the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organization (ENPO)-Frontier Nagaland Territory (FNT) issue during an election rally in Wokha on 5 April, which was not related to his election campaign or rally.

“I understand the gravity of my mistake and assure that such actions will not recur in the future,” Chingwang Konyak, who is also the Chairman of the ruling People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA), stated in the undertaking.

He further pledged not to engage or comment on the ENPO-FNT issue in any further canvassing or election campaign activities in his individual capacity or in the capacity of the President of NDPP, Nagaland “in accordance with the resolution and to uphold the integrity of the KU.”

“Furthermore, I shall continue to contribute my best and work for the upliftment and progress of the Eastern Nagaland People and the Konyaks,” he added in the undertaking.

The undertaking was signed in the presence of Y Chingwang Wangsa, Vice President, KU; Ponglem Konyak, President, Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong; T Noklem Konyak, President, Konyak Students’ Union; and Z Yato Konyak, Chairman, Sheong Village Council on 8 April at KU office, Mon.
