Mokokchung, 8 April (MTNews): Can Youth, in collaboration with the YANA Foundation, Dimapur Battalion, Assam Rifles IGAR (N), and the Regional Ayurvedic Research Centre Dimapur (RARC), organized a series of events to commemorate World Health Day under the theme ‘My Health, My Right’ on 7 April 2024. The event aimed to raise awareness about health issues, provide essential healthcare services, and promote overall well-being among adolescents in various communities, as stated in a press release received here.

The World Health Day celebration took place across multiple locations, including Mhainamtsi Village, Jalukie, Neisatuo Colony, Khermahal, Dimapur, and Namgalong Colony, Burma Camp Dimapur.

The event engaged members of the Adolescent Club under Can Youth’s project, alongside volunteers and healthcare professionals from partnering organizations, community leaders, churches, youth organizations, and interns from Assam Down Town University.

The celebration featured a diverse range of life skill activities, awareness programs, and various health topics, with the importance of Ayurvedic medicine shared by Dr. Deepak Rahangdale and Dr. Neha Mech, both from RARC. Priya Kumari (Fit India Brand Ambassador) and Pradeep Kumar from Goonj NGO, both cyclists traveling throughout the Northeast to raise awareness on menstrual hygiene and plastic-free mountains, also spoke on menstrual hygiene.

Mary Konyak, Project Coordinator at Can Youth, and Sentimongla Ozukum, Program In-Charge at Can Youth, spoke on the theme of World Health Day in Mhainamtsi Village and Namgalong Colony respectively.
The event activities included hemoglobin tests, distribution of nutrition items, medicines, and sanitary pads to promote hygiene and well-being.

Can Youth thanks the collaborative efforts of Assam Rifles, Regional Ayurvedic Research Centre, YANA Foundation, churches, community leaders, individual partners Mese Kapfo (Board Member, Can Youth), and Hema Das (Secretary, Eastern Action Socio-Economic Development Trust) for their concern for the health and social well-being of adolescents.
