Mokokchung, December 11 (MTNews): Nagaland Foothill Road Co-ordination Committee (NFHRCC) on Sunday informed that “the much awaited Naga Historic Bridge” over the River Doyang, Governor’s Camp, Liphanyan is set to be will be inaugurated by the Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on December 14.
In this connection, the NFHRCC has invited all Apex Tribal Hohos, the Dimapur-based Tribal Hohos, the Young Naga Action Committee on Foothills Road, the contractors’ firms on the Foothills road construction, the local CSOs, and former members of the committee to attend the inaugural function.
“Lunch will be hosted by the NFHRCC, however, all the invitees are requested to arrange their own transportations accordingly,” the NFHRCC informed.
The NFHRCC said that the construction of the ‘Historic Naga Survival Bridge’ was started in 2014 with the initiatives of the Naga CSOs and funded by the Government of Nagaland.
The work was executed by M/S L. Pukhato Shohe and Sons and it is the 4th Bridge over the River Doyang and the longest in Nagaland.
Meanwhile, NFHRCC clarified that the donation for Foothills Road made by Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang (ABAM) was directly handed over to the chief minister in 2019. As it was not encashed by the Government, “the said amount was reportedly reverted back to ABAM exchequer and therefore, the NFHRCC has nothing to do with any sort of donations for the foothills,” NFHRCC added.
However, the committee requested the respective Tribal Hohos who are yet to contribute to its exigency funds as appealed to do the needful.
