Mokokchung, September 18 (MTNews): The Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC) in a press release has demanded imposition of President’s Rule in the state in order to facilitate solution to the Naga Political Issue.
“Despite 25 years of negotiation between the Government of India and stakeholders, there has been no outcome so far,” it stated.

According to CNTC, in the 2018 assembly election, the BJP promised to the people of Nagas with a slogan “Election for Solution” but has failed to fulfill its commitment.

The council was of the view that another election is coming and that parties will continue to deploy “delay tactics” by making another false promises.

CNTC also said that when the ball is thrown to the Core Committee on Naga Political Issue (CCoNPI) it is the bounded duty of the Government of India to settle the issue at the earliest.

The council extended support to the signing of ‘September Joint Accordant’ by NSCN (I-M) and WC, NNPGs in the presence of Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR).

Another reason, the CNTC stated in its demand on PR, was the failure of the of the UDA government to fulfill its commitment.

According to the council, “unabated corruptions over the years have led to financial crunch while the government despite of assurance failed to take action on the rampant extortion”.

It stated that “rampant extortion has led to increase in price and the common people face the burnt. Most of the government employees have not been paid salaries, while there has been no progress in education, infrastructure, law and governance etc”.

Therefore, the council believes that the current situation in the state can only be calmed with the imposition of President’s Rule.
