Communities and families gathered in grief and solidarity as a funeral service was held for five women who lost their lives in a tragic bus accident along the Kohima–Dimapur road. The service took place at the Chümoukedima Ao Baptist Arogo (CABA) Compound, where relatives, church members, and community leaders came together to pay their final respects and offer prayers for the departed.

The fatal accident occurred on January 31, when the bus reportedly suffered a brake failure while travelling between Kohima and Dimapur. The incident claimed several lives and left others injured, sending shockwaves across communities in the state.

During the service, family members reflected on the victims’ active participation in the church’s “Day of Repentance” programme, drawing comfort from their faith. Many expressed hope that their loved ones are at peace, finding solace in the belief that they have triumphed over suffering and evil.

The bereaved families also conveyed heartfelt gratitude to all those who extended support during the difficult period. They acknowledged the assistance and compassion shown by Kohima Ao Baptist Arogo (KABA), the Kohima Police and district administration, emergency service personnel, and members of various Naga communities.
