Longleng, 30 October (MTNews): LEMSACHENLOK celebrated the inauguration of a Community-Funded School Building, which was constructed by the communities of Yaongyimchen, Alayong, and Sanglu on 27 October 2023.

Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, Advisor for School Education & SCERT, Nagaland graced the occasion as the Special Guest. He commended the remarkable initiative undertaken by the community and encouraged everyone to prioritize self-sufficiency and self-reliance, emphasizing the importance of self-love. He urged individuals to view themselves as valuable resources, comparing them to gold, and encouraged them to invest in their own development rather than relying on external support.

Yhome also challenged community leaders in Longleng district to focus on developing their communities and providing suitable locations for educational institutions for the benefit of their children. He further encouraged the communities of Yaongyimchen, Alayong, and Sanglu to ensure that the newly constructed building is filled with students and shared plans from the education department.

Joining Yhome, B Bangtick Phom, MLA of the 49th Assembly Constituency in Longleng, and officials from the Education Department were present at the event. In his address, MLA B Bangtick Phom praised the community for their innovative endeavors and commended the staff of GHS Yaongyimchen for their outstanding academic achievements, despite facing various challenges.

Avelu Ruho, Joint Secretary of School Education in the Government of Nagaland, expressed appreciation for the LEMSACHENLOK Society’s 11th Anniversary and the contributions they have made to society. She acknowledged the innovative practices introduced by the community and applauded the teachers of GHS Yaongyimchen for their excellent results, even in the face of a shortage of teaching staff.

Nuklu Phom highlighted the concept of AlijoCademia (Morung) education, which began in the village in 2010 and later merged with Samagra as LAAIPANG. He presented the key to the newly constructed building, which was sponsored by the community, to the relevant department.

The Chairman of Bhumnyu Village Council provided a testament to the impact of LEMSACHENLOK in the neighboring villages of the Phom area, under the leadership of Nuklu Phom.
The Chairman of Yaongyimchen Village Council extended a warm welcome and requested the Advisor to facilitate the provision of electricity to the school, emphasizing its vital importance for the school’s operation.

Students from Government High School extended a warm welcome to the guests and dignitaries through a folk song and dance.

Students from LAAIPANG Hukphang Centre presented a short skit on living with values, while LAAIPANG Yongam Centre performed a play on “Holistic transformation.” LAAIPANG, Bhumnyu Centre, delivered a short speech on transforming lives.

Before the inauguration, the Advisor visited the LAAIPANG Centre at Yaongyimchen and interacted with the students and tutors. The team also visited Bautung Government Higher Secondary School in Longleng, the only higher secondary school in the district, and engaged with the faculty.
