Mokokchung, 12 October (MTNews): The Power Department under the Mokokchung Electrical Sub-Division has announced a critical scheduled power outage in Mokokchung District, scheduled for 14 October 2023 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. This temporary power shutdown is necessary to facilitate routine jungle cutting within the district.
The jungle-cutting initiative aims to remove overgrown vegetation and trees that have come in contact with power lines, causing interruptions to the supply of electricity.
“It is also to mention that these types of power interruptions, which are avoidable to a large extent, disrupt the power supply causing inconveniences to consumers and also affect the equipment at the power sub-station,” Er Achanger Aier, SDO, Mokokchung Electrical Sub-Division stated in a press release.
The Power Department’s effort to conduct this jungle cutting is geared toward preventing future unscheduled power outages and ensuring a more reliable power supply for the region. As such, all concerned have been requested to bear with the department.
