Mokokchung, January 11 (MTNews): A meeting between Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) leaders led by President K Therie and All India Congress Committee (AICC) delegation led by MP Mukul Wasnik was held this morning in Dimapur where they discussed the possibility of AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and MP Shashi Tharoor as star campaigners in the event elections are announced.

Discussions were held on the probability of elections being announced or the imposition of President’s Rule in the state. The meeting also assessed the mood of the state’s people and the chances for the approaching elections.

In terms of the people’s mood, Therie stated that in Nagaland, the people in ground reality are not in the mood for elections. Voters want the agreed political solutions to be implemented, but he stated that if the BJP and NDPP want to go against the aspirations of the people and hold elections, the state Congress is prepared to fight all out.

The NPCC leaders also noted that CBSE exam routine starts from 15 February 2023 and therefore, if elections are announced, the NPCC leaders pointed out that the Election Commission may have to complete the election process before February 15 leaving hardly 35 days before election.

Therefore, irrespective of whether elections are announced or PR imposed, he stated the Congress has decided to prepare to meet the challenges.

The NPCC leaders also discussed the “Secular Front” and said that “if elections are announced, finalization with like-minded parties will be done and if not, Congress may have to fight all the 60 assembly constituencies.”

The delegation also assured its full support to the state Congress to fight and “dethrone the 20-year misrule of BJP alliance with regionals,” if elections are announced.

The AICC leadership delegation also included Mohan Prakash, AICC Screening Committee Chairman for Nagaland; Francisco Sardinha, MP and AICC Observer; Dr K Jayakumar, MP and AICC Observer; Sanjay Dutt, Member, AICC Screening Committee; and Ranajit Mukherjee, AICC Secretary I/C Nagaland and Sikkim; and Bobby Panicker, Working President, NPCC.
