Kohima, 1 March (MTNews): In a significant update on the recruitment process for constables within the Home Department, Nagaland’s Deputy Chief Minister (Home), Yanthungo Patton, announced a new recruitment policy. During the ongoing assembly session, Patton clarified that constable recruitment would no longer adhere to the existing reservation policy but on tribal quotas as per the population ratio.
Providing further insights into the recruitment process, Patton disclosed that constable positions would be filled through open recruitment. He outlined the various categories of posts, including Constable (GD), Constable (MT), and Constable (NPTO), although the precise number of positions in each category is yet to be finalized.
Elaborating on the eligibility criteria, Patton specified that candidates must fall within the age bracket of 18 to 35 years old. However, he also announced a one-time relaxation of the age limit, permitting candidates up to 38 years old as of 22 January 2024. Additionally, educational requirements vary depending on the candidate’s tribal affiliation, with those from the general category expected to have passed Class VIII and candidates from backward tribes required to have passed Class VI.
Patton underscored the importance of meeting predetermined physical and medical standards set by the Department, emphasizing the rigorous selection process for potential constables.
As the recruitment process progresses, the Minister urged the interested candidates to stay updated with the official announcements and fulfill the necessary eligibility criteria to be considered for the positions.
