The United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC) has issued official notices to two contractors in Kiphire, Nagaland, calling for explanations regarding the alleged failure to execute construction projects in accordance with their respective Detailed Project Reports (DPR). The USSC’s inspection has raised concerns about substandard work and mismanagement of public funds following Right to Information (RTI) inquiries filed under the Aspirational Districts Program.
The contractors, TZ and Sons Builders, responsible for the ZPC Auditorium at Government College Kiphire, and designated contractor SK James, overseeing the Fishery Project at Zungki Valley, have both been directed to appear in person at the USSC office on September 26, 2024.
According to the USSC’s findings, the ZPC Auditorium project, despite a budget allocation of Rs 1,00,20,000, has not been executed according to the DPR or the Plan of Action (POA) set by the district administration. The inspection revealed substandard workmanship, which has heightened public concern.
Similarly, the Zungki Valley Fishery Project, which received a sanctioned budget of Rs 99,50,000, was also found to be below the required standards, failing to meet DPR specifications.
Both contractors have been summoned to provide a comprehensive explanation for the non-compliance with DPR requirements. TZ and Sons Builders have been asked to appear at 12:00 noon, while SK James has been scheduled for 10:00 AM on the same day.
The USSC has warned that failure to comply with the directive may result in legal action.
