Dimapur, July 29 (MTNews): In light of the state’s poor economy, GB Hevishe Village and convenor of Concerned People of Nagaland, Kahuto Chishi, stated that as responsible citizens, people should come out and engage in the business sectors with innovative ideas and thereby contribute to the state’s economy.
He made this statement while serving as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony for Taste of Kanglei, an authentic Manipuri cuisine outlet opened by Major Vikuto Assumi on 28th July 2022 at Super Market, Dimapur.
He also exhorted the young Naga people not to rely just on government employment, but rather to step outside their comfort zones, take risks, and embark on various business ventures in order to survive and to contribute to the state’s economy. The restaurant was formally inaugurated by the special guest with the cutting of a ribbon.
Vikuto Assumi, the owner of Taste of Kanglei, said that he fell in love with Manipuri cuisine while he was serving in the Indian Army in Manipur from 2011 to 2013. Vikuto took voluntary leave from the Indian Army after noticing that Dimapur lacked a decent Manipuri thali restaurant, he proposed the idea of opening such a restaurant in order to introduce the Manipuri culture to the locals, help them get to know the neighboring state better through food, and to foster peace.
He informed that he had brought Manipuri chefs from Imphal and further said that rice and all the other ingredients to be used in the restaurant will be supplied from Manipur.
The fully air-conditioned “Taste of Kanglei” restaurant is situated in Supermarket Dimapur and is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Pastor Lhomithi Baptist Church Dimapur, Toluho Chishi gave the dedicatory program.
