Mokokchung, 26 March (MTNews): A first of its kind in Mokokchung Town, ‘Artists Meet Up’ a meet and greet event for the art community in Mokokchung was organized by Creative Hearts on Saturday at Tzulenden 2nd Cross, Kapayong Sector, Mokokchung village.
Various artists from the community came together and spent a day painting, sketching, drawing and sharing their ideas.
About thirteen artists participated in the event where they painted and sketched based on certain themes and the finished art was displayed and later exchanged among the artists present.
“The event was organized to strengthen the Mokokchung art community and also to provide a platform where artists can create, critique, share ideas and promote each other,” an update from Creative Hearts said.
Creative Hearts are a team of young people who love art and believe that art can bring people together and can be a uniting factor. “We are overwhelmed by the response from the art community here in Mokokchung and we are excited to organize more such events,” Asen A Jamir, one of the organizers, said.
“People in Nagaland, especially in Mokokchung, are not given the platform to expand and grow as artists. More emphasis should be given to promote art and to encourage art as a profession,” she said.
“By organizing such events, we hope that the art community will grow bigger and stronger and hopefully in the future, we can create avenues for the artist,” she added.
