Dimapur were crowned champions of the 6th G Rio Trophy Men’s U19 Inter District Tournament 2026 after defeating Kohima by five wickets in the final played at Sovima Cricket Ground on March 25. A disciplined bowling effort followed by a steady chase helped Dimapur secure a convincing win and lift the title.
After winning the toss, Kohima elected to bat but struggled against a sharp Dimapur bowling attack and were bowled out for 74 runs in 26.2 overs. Imkongtemsu top scored with 17 off 58 balls, while the rest of the batting lineup failed to build partnerships. Dimapur’s bowlers dominated, with Yashimeren Jamir returning figures of 3 for 9, Samir Ali taking 3 for 14, and Raja Kumar claiming 3 for 20.
Chasing a target of 75, Dimapur reached 77 for 5 in 23.3 overs. Shivam led the chase with 18 off 35 balls as the team held its composure despite a few middle order setbacks. Kohima’s bowlers put up some resistance, with Solomon Awungshi taking 3 for 14 and Sangtsulen Tshunlerii picking up 2 for 28, but the total proved insufficient.
Yashimeren Jamir was named Player of the Match, while Solomon Awungshi was adjudged Player of the Tournament.
