The Combined Technical Association of Nagaland (CTAN) has formally requested an extension of the age relaxation for entry into government services to 37 years. This request was submitted to the Chief Minister of Nagaland by the Concerned Aspirants Group recently on July 22, 2024.
Currently, the age limit for government job applicants stands at 35 years. The CTAN has argued that the COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted competitive examinations, affecting the career prospects of many aspirants. Although the government has issued a two-year age relaxation order from the Personnel & Administrative Reforms (P&AR) department, this measure has not fully addressed the issues faced by those nearing the upper age limit.
The CTAN has urged the authorities to extend the relaxation period by an additional five years to provide more equitable opportunities. The association has highlighted ongoing frustration among unemployed youth in India, noting that Nagaland has experienced high levels of youth unemployment.
The representation by CTAN calls for the government to address these concerns and implement a fair solution for the affected candidates.
