Dimapur, August 28 (MTNews): Anaki Phom Union Dimapur (APUD) has stated today that there is misinformation doing the rounds regarding the alleged custodial death of Henveih Phom. On the arrest of Henveih Phom, APUD told a press conference that the media reports of Henveih Phom being reportedly arrested by 14th Rajputana Rifles and Assam Police in a joint operation is not true. APUD said that even if it is true, it happened inside Nagaland state and neither the authorities nor the Anaki C village council were informed about it.
They also raised questions on how the postmortem was conducted, and asked why the Assam authorities were in such a hurry to conduct the postmortem when the ADC of Tuli and SDPO were on the way to Sivasagar. They asked the public and the media to not be swayed by “one sided narrative but see the ground reality.”
“We have a living witness, she knows what has happened to her,” they said and urged people to listen to the whole story. Further, they informed that there is a “road block” in between Anaki C and Assam and hence the people in the village are struggling for their basic necessities.
They also disclosed that they have not received any relief from the government of Nagaland and urged the state government not to remain a mute spectator.
