DC Mokokchung directs Mongsenyimti Village Council to refrain from open indulgence in politics

Mokokchung, February 20 (MTNews): The Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate of Mokokchung, Shashank Pratap Singh IAS has in an order directed the Mongsenyimti Riongsanger Putu Menden/Village Council and Mongsenyimti Senso Mungdang to “immediately refrain from open indulgence in politics by supporting or opposing any candidate failing which necessary action will be initiated as per law.”

 

This directive was issued following the Mongsenyimti Riongsanger Putu Menden/Village Council and Mongsenyimti Senso Mungdang accepting the High Court’s January 31 order. The DC and DM stated that, as directed by the Gauhati High Court, Kohima bench in its January 31 Order, both the Mongsenyimti Riongsanger Putu Menden/Village Council and Mongsenyimti Senso Mungdang appeared in his Court on 10 February 2023 as summoned by him along with a written submission.

 

“On consideration of their written submission, it is observed that they have in their volition categorically stated that they have accepted the verdict of the High Court’s Order dated 31-01-2023, and the same is being followed in letter and spirit,” the DC & DM stated. Hence, they were directed not to indulge in politics.

 

Further, they were directed that all efforts and endeavors must be made so as to ensure that a peaceful electioneering process is conducted in 24 Angetyongpang AC, particularly in Mongsenyimti village.

 

Mongsenyimti VC issues NOC to S Maongkaba Ozukum

 

Meanwhile, the National People’s Party (NPP) candidate for the general election to the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly from 24 Angetyongpang AC, S Maongkaba Ozukum today visited Mongsenyimti village to meet the village council seeking permission to organize a program in declaration of his candidature in the village. The candidate was given the permission to declare his candidature in the village but the date, time and venue for the event could not be finalized till the time of filing this report. The Mongsenyimti Village Council also gave its ‘no objection certificate’ to the NPP candidate to hold his candidature declaration program.
