The DEF Mokokchung has extended its gratitude to all agencies, volunteers, and personnel who played a crucial role in containing a wildfire that broke out at New Reserve, Mokokchung, on March 26, 2024. “All ranks and file of DEF Mokokchung are deeply grateful to you for your service. A big sincere ‘Thank You’ from DEF Mokokchung,” stated Addl Superintendent of Police & PRO, Mokokchung in a statement.
The wildfire, reported around 9:00 AM, rapidly spread due to strong winds, making it difficult to control. Fire & Emergency Services, along with police personnel, were immediately deployed. The fire was finally doused at around 4:30 PM with the coordinated efforts of various agencies and volunteers from neighboring villages.
The following departments and volunteer groups were involved in the firefighting operation: Fire & Emergency Services, Mokokchung; SDRF, Mokokchung; C/173 CRPF, Mokokchung; 12 Assam Rifles, Mokokchung; D Coy 14 NAP (IR), Mokokchung; District Administration; DEF Mokokchung Police personnel; and Volunteers from Chuchuyimpang, Mokokchung, Khensa, Ungma, Sungratsu, and Mopungchuket villages.
“No loss of lives or property was reported due to the timely intervention of the people mentioned above,” the statement added.
Further, it urged all the citizens to follow fire safety practices to avoid re-occurrence of such wildfires.
“Any person/persons causing wildfires whether intentionally or unintentionally and cause loss to lives and properties shall be liable to be booked under appropriate sections of law.,” it said.
