Kohima, 7 December (MTNews): The Department of Industries and Commerce has officially disbursed seed capital funds totaling Rs 6,90,30,946 to 3,797 Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in Nagaland under the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme.
The release ceremony took place today at the Directorate of Industries and Commerce in Kohima, presided over by Advisor, Industries and Commerce, Hekani Jakhalu. During the program, Jakhalu underscored the pivotal role of SHGs, emphasizing their need for support starting at the grassroots level and involving the collaboration of all relevant departments.
Jakhalu also shared that the Department of Industries and Commerce is in the process of establishing a mall where products from SHGs will be showcased. She encouraged the SHGs to contribute to making Nagaland a powerhouse in the food industry and urged them to commence the preparation of their products.
The seed capital funds were allocated to the Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) for 3,454 SHG groups and individual members, amounting to Rs 5,70,22,946.
Additionally, funds were provided to the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM) for 343 SHG groups and individual members, totaling Rs 1,20,08,000.
