In a move to enhance the implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) system and ensure accountability at the grassroots level, the Dimapur district administration held a coordination meeting with the chairmen of all 31 Sadar villages on Thursday.
Zeliang made it clear that neither village councils nor members of the public are authorized to conduct ILP checks or impose fines. The meeting, held at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall, was chaired by the SDO (Sadar), Dimapur. One of the main objectives was to standardize the registration of ILP holders at the village level.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Wiridin Zeliang stated that the district administration will ensure 33 percent of the ILP fees collected are remitted to the respective village councils. This will be done in accordance with government notifications and based on ILP registers maintained by each village.
To facilitate this, a standardized format was issued to all village council chairmen. The Village Councils have been instructed to maintain detailed records of ILP holders, including names, application numbers, contact details, ILP categories, addresses, permit validity, guarantor details, and whether the ILP was obtained online or offline.
