Impur, November 3 (MTNews): In celebration of 150 years of Christianity in Nagaland, the Dimapur Ao Lanur Telongjem (Dimapur Ao Youth Organization) launched a book titled ‘BIBLIOTHECA HISTORIA: Chronicles of Ao Services in Eastern Nagaland, 1872-1972’ which was dedicated and formally released today by ABAM Executive Secretary Rev. Dr. Mar Pongener, Impur.
The book is a “historical documentation of Aos who lived and shared with their brethren living beyond the then-British-India territory, commonly known as the un-administered trans-Dikhu region, which was later included in the North East Frontier Agency, now Nagaland state,” an update from DAYO said.
The book documents the history of the Aos’ relationship with six recognized tribes then, namely Chang, Khimniungan, Konyak, Phom, Sangtam, and Yimchungrü, during the first 100 years (1872-1972) since the arrival of Christianity to the Aos.
“It is by no means exhaustive, only a few hundred names are chronicled here as of now. Here in history, we found that our never ending quest for hunting heads and thirst for human blood has been replaced by compassion and self-giving, in the light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ,” DAYO stated.
According to the Youth Association, the purpose of Volume I of the book is to recognize and pay tribute to those who lived and served among fellow Naga brethren there. Second, it seeks to “strengthen the age-old relationship in light of the glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord,” as cast by our shared history, and third, it seeks to serve as a reminder to younger generations of our historical relationship. “And lastly, but not the least, to serve as record for posterity. And all for the glory of God of our history,” DAYO said.
Great advice! I’ll definitely be implementing some of these tips.
