Mokokchung, 30 April (MTNews): Dimapur Government College (DGC) held a warm farewell program for retiring Associate Professor and former Head of Department, Political Science, Khrienuo Angami, who had served the college for 28 long years in various capacities on 29 April.

Principal, Prof. Sanjay Sharma in his speech highlighted Khrienuo’s sincerity and dedication to the development of the Political Science Department and the college as a whole. He also appreciated her contribution to two crucial committees of the college, Students Welfare Committee and the Students Advisory Committee and extended his gratitude to her for developing the Green Garden Area in the college. He ended his speech by wishing the best for her and her family, a press release from the college received here said.

 

Speeches from the Vice Principal, Vice President of Dimapur Government College Teachers Association (DGCTA), members of the faculty and Dimapur Government College Students Council, described her as a vibrant, honest, humorous, intelligent and hard working person who had the special ability to lighten up a person’s day. They recounted her immense contribution to the development of the college and the welfare of the students and thanked her for the legacy that she would be leaving behind, it said.

 

A special slide show was prepared for the retiring officer by the department of Political Science and two special songs were presented during the program.

 

The retiring officer in her speech expressed her gratitude to the gathering and shared that she has developed an invisible bond with the institution and everyone in it. She reminisced about her time in the college and said that she will cherish all of the wonderful memories spent there.

 

As a final act of dedication to the college, the retiring officer planted a tree in the Green Garden Area.

 

Purtila, Assoc. Professor, Department of Political Science, chaired the event, while Dr Vinyuhu Lhoungu, Asst. Professor, Department of Economics, delivered the invocation prayer and Dr Hannah Tia, Asst. Professor, Department of Sociology, pronounced the benediction.
