The Fast Track Special Court under the POCSO Act in Dimapur has sentenced Yilobemo Mozhui to life imprisonment for the 2020 murder of a 17-year-old girl. The judgment was pronounced on Tuesday.
According to a press note issued by Dimapur Police, the victim’s body was found on October 22, 2020, at the St Clare Higher Secondary School ground in Kachari Gaon, Phevima.
Following the discovery, the case was registered by the Women Police Station, Dimapur, and a detailed investigation was carried out. Police said that after collecting sufficient evidence, charges were filed against the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
