Mokokchung, 26 April (MTNews): District Child Protection Unit, Mokokchung organized a three-day Sports Festival at Care & Support Children Home from 24-26 April on account of the Children Sports Festival which is celebrated every April.

 

 

 

 

The District Child Protection Unit Officer, Samuel Kapu, on the inaugural program underscored the goal of organizing the event, stating that it encourages a healthy lifestyle and moral being while fostering physical and emotional development.

 

Venuzo Dawhuo, the multiple time Naga wrestling title winner, graced the program for three days mentoring the children and promoting Naga wrestling.

 

The three-day event covered both indoor and outdoor games including carrom, ludo, penalty shootout, tug-of-war, high jump,100 meter race, relay race, long jump, arm wrestling and Naga wrestling.

 

The festival was attended by Observation Home staff, Child Welfare Committee, Juvenile Justice Board and Childline 1098 Mokokchung and staff of Care and Support society.

 

The festival was celebrated across India for children living in Child Care Institutes (CCI) from 17-28 April as was entrusted by the Ministry of Women and Child Development.
