Tseminyu ended their Dr T Ao Trophy 2025 campaign on a high with a 3-1 win over Meluri in Match 19, a fixture that will be remembered for the emotional farewell of district football icon Yhunshalo Kemp. Captaining his team for the final time, Kemp delivered a fitting finale, scoring twice and leading from the front.
Meluri opened the scoring in the 27th minute through Yithachu, converting a free kick from just outside the box, but Kemp equalized in the 40th minute with a composed finish. He added a second in the 52nd minute, putting Tseminyu ahead before Khiti Kath sealed the win six minutes later.
Kemp, officially retiring from district-level championships, was honoured before the match by Chenonlo Woch, Vice President of the Football Association Tseminyu District, for his outstanding service to the game. After the final whistle, an emotional guard of honour was given by players from Tseminyu, Meluri, and even Team Niuland, reflecting the respect Kemp commands across teams.
The Group D clash marked the last appearance for both sides in the tournament.
Kohima and Peren have already qualified from the group and will meet on August 8 to decide the group winner. A win will send the victor through as table-topper, while a draw favours Kohima on goal difference.
