Mokokchung is preparing to host the Silver Jubilee edition of the Dr T Ao Trophy, Nagaland’s premier football tournament, later this year at Ungma Village.
The tournament, expected to be held in October, has not yet seen an official announcement of dates from the Nagaland Football Association.
Visuals of the host venue from early June show ongoing construction and infrastructure work, including gallery construction, a multipurpose hall, and electrification-related works still in progress.
The 2025 edition of the tournament saw Niuland and Mon reach the final, with Mon emerging as champions.
With preparations continuing on the ground, there is public curiosity regarding the readiness of the venue ahead of the upcoming edition.
The Dr T Ao Trophy remains one of the most significant football tournaments in Nagaland, bringing together teams from across districts in a showcase of competitive football and sporting culture.
Alongside venue preparations, the Mokokchung District Football Association has also begun its team selection process for the upcoming tournament.
The MDFA has announced shortlisted players from various clubs and tournaments to attend a three-day trial selection scheduled from July 1 to 3 at Ungma Rumpo Turf.
The selected players will compete for a place in the Mokokchung district team for the 25th edition of the Dr T Ao Trophy.
